A-Level RE at Three Spires Sixth
A-Level Religious Education at Three Spires Sixth Form is wonderfully diverse and enriching, offering a greater insight than the traditional viewpoint!
With lively debates, philosophical scenarios and ethical dilemmas, Three Spires Sixth students develop a personable and approachable view of the world, systems, and populations around them, understanding how religion affects one's beliefs and choices on a day-to-day basis.
After studying the course for a year, students are offered the opportunity to do a residential visit to Norwich Cathedral and the pilgrimage site of The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. Both sites offer a greater insight into the A-Level course with our religious experiences' units in Christianity and Philosophy. The sites have a rich history and allow students to look at the formation of the Bible, religious practices and experiences, and the interweaving of religion and culture throughout the ages. Each location provides students with the opportunity to ask religious persons and experts in-depth questions about the Big Questions of the day, such as: "How can an omnibenevolent God be willing to allow evil and suffering to exist?", 'Why is Christianity seeming to be discriminatory towards women in the clergy?", "Is God proud?" or "Can faith and rationale exist together?". The students developed passion from communicating with devoted and passionate people in their own walk of faith.
This year, there were many moments of awe and wonder amongst the students attending the residential, particularly seeing the replica of The Shrine at Walsingham. Viewing or even taking part in the 'sprinkling' was a humbling moment as miracles are known to occur from it!
The A-Level RE course is one that can lead into different careers, such as the legal profession, law enforcement, journalism, youth and community work, archaeological research, advertising and much more! At Three Spires Sixth Form, we provide experiences, study and research which allows our students to grow & flourish.
