Three Spires Sixth Form Attendance Expectations

At Three Spires Sixth Form, we believe that good attendance is key to success. Regular attendance not only supports academic achievement but also prepares students for higher education, apprenticeships, and the workplace.

    We expect all students to:
✔ Attend all lessons and support sessions on time.
Sign in and out when entering or leaving the site.
✔ Wear their ID badge at all times.
✔ Inform the school of any planned absences (e.g., work experience, medical appointments).

    What Parents/Carers Need to Know

As a parent/carer, you play a vital role in supporting your child’s attendance. We ask that you:
✔ Notify the Sixth Form of any absence or lateness.
✔ Encourage and support regular attendance.
✔ Attend meetings if your child’s attendance becomes a concern.

    How Attendance is Monitored

The Sixth Form team tracks attendance weekly and categorises students into four stages based on their attendance percentage.

    Attendance %

    Stage

    Action Taken

    95% – 100%

    Stage 1 (Good Attendance)

    No action required.

    90% – 95%

    Stage 2 (Attendance Concern)

Parents/carers and students receive an email/letter. Student is expected to improve attendance.

    85% – 90%

    Stage 3 (Serious Concern)

Meeting with Head of Sixth Form (Parents/carers invited). Student placed on an Attendance Contract and monitored weekly.

    Below 85%

    Stage 4 (Critical Concern)

Urgent meeting with Parents/Carers & Sixth Form Team. Additional monitoring and possible sanctions or consequences. Persistent low attendance may put the student’s place at Sixth Form at risk.

If attendance does not improve, students risk losing off-site privileges, being required to attend supervised study sessions, and ultimately, not being able to continue in Sixth Form.

    Reporting an Absence

If your child is absent, please inform the school before 8:30 AM on the day of absence by:
📞 Calling the Sixth Form Attendance Line.
📧 Emailing the Sixth Form office.

A text message or phone call will be made to parents if we do not receive notice of an absence.

    Lateness & Punctuality

    • If a student arrives late, they must sign in and will receive a lateness mark on the register.
    • Persistent lateness will result in catch-up sessions in supervised study areas.

What Happens if Attendance Does Not Improve?

1️⃣ Parents will be contacted regularly with updates.
2️⃣ Students may need to attend support meetings to discuss attendance.
3️⃣ Continued low attendance could result in losing study privileges or being referred for alternative education pathways.

We understand that occasional absences are unavoidable, but regular attendance is crucial to success. If there are personal, medical, or other concerns affecting attendance, please speak to the Sixth Form team—we are here to help.

Let’s work together to ensure every student reaches their full potential!
